One mountain, two ascents, zero oxygen and one dream come true.

In May 2017, Kilian Jornet set out to achieve a historic double, solo ascent of Everest. With the upmost respect for the mountains, an innate minimalist nature and a lifetime of experience—dating back to his youth in the Catalan Pyrenees—the 8,848 meters to the summit were a challenge Kilian was more than capable of overcoming. And doing this in without the aid of oxygen proves just how incredible this athlete is.

Today, thanks to directors Sebastien Montaz-Rosset and Joseph Serra, viewers can watch as Kilian accomplishes his goal in the 80-minute documentary, “Path to Everest.” The sheer strength—both mental and physical—that Kilian displays throughout is truly inspiring.

Kilian has a long, decorated history in sky/trail/long-distance running and ski mountaineering. And for the past five years, he dedicated his life to achieving the FKT (fastest known times) at seven of the world’s highest peaks. The project, dubbed “Summits of My Life,” culminated with his FKT achievement of 26 hours on Mount Everest.

Kilian is a celebrated member of the GoPro Family, and we’re stoked to help share his latest triumph. The six-time Skyrunner World Series champion started blowing minds with a GoPro in 2016, and most recently, he nailed the HyperSmooth vibes for HERO7 Black while expertly traversing a ridgeline.

We hope to see you scale many more summits, Kilian!
